5 Neat Places in Raleigh, North Carolina

Capital Building

Since moving to North Carolina last September 2018, I have been exploring the entire area. I have found so many different wonderful places. I can see why it was ranked #3 on the best quality of life. I will be doing a few blogs on several different locations in this area to let you see the life of the people who live here. This blog is going to be about downtown Raleigh. This city is very nice and clean and is very beautiful.

Where we started is at the Capital Building in the middle of Raleigh. As you walk up to it you can feel the history right at your fingertips. From the books, the pens, the hats and the library, you can see how history wrote itself. The capital building is free to tour and is interesting. The guards at the front are worth mentioning also. They were very nice and professional. The Capital had 3 stories high every floor told a different story. The statues were sculpted to perfection. You are sure to love every minute of it.

Daytime in the City

The city life during the day can be pretty busy but not messy. The day I took these pictures it was a Saturday so not as many people were there as there normally is during work hours. you will see many different interesting things downtown though, like rollerbladers and fire trucks with extremely friendly firefighters. The streets are lined with cars, but the sidewalks are not full of people which is great. We actually crashed a wedding and met new people. LOL. We walked around several streets and just enjoyed the views around the city. The building are very interesting as well.

Artwork

This is a small portion of the wonderful artwork around the city.

Raleigh Performing Art Center

Set amongst the backdrop of our Capitol, the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts has stood as a historic and cultural focal point in Downtown Raleigh since 1932. It has hosted Broadway classics, rock legends and major political figures, but has maintained an emphasis on education of the arts and artists housed within the community. With four separate event spaces available, the breadth and depth of events past, present and future has made this Raleigh’s Premier Arts Venue. The building is a beautiful sight to see, especially at night with the bright lights. It's a must to see.

Hunger Needs

If your out late and need a quick bite, there are many different options around the city. One of my favorites to go with people new to the city is Benny's Capitale's Pizza. It is located at 121 Fayetteville St Suite 110, Raleigh, NC. The slices of pizza there are so large and only $5 a piece. Most people are so amazed at how large the pizza is. The staff is so nice as well. The restaurant feels like a hole in the wall, but it will amaze you on how delicious the pizza is. there is writing on the walls and it feels kinda retro.

Another favorite place of mine is the Pizza LaStella Restaurant. The pizza there is also amazing, but more expensive than Benny's. It is important to say that the LaStella is a very nice upscale restaurant and the staff is also very nice. The pizza is more of a brick oven style but its to die for. I had the Lasagna Pizza and loved every minute of it.

There are many other options such as Oak City Meatballs. I was not a fan of the meatballs there. They were not to my liking, but many other have raved about it.

I will be doing many adventures around North Carolina and many other places such as Puerto Rico, Florida, Texas and South Carolina. I am a travel photographer for weddings, business, family and vacations. I venture out to places that most tourist don't normally go to find hidden gems that only locals know about. I hope you will subscribe to my page to see new interesting places and see the experiences that may interest you.
